On this lovely, warm, sunny Autumn Saturday I got the pleasure of accompanying the Smith family on a lovely stroll through the crunchy leaves at Weelsby Woods for a family photography adventure!
The kids began throwing leaves up into the air, so I said “Why don’t we throw some over Mum & Dad? It will be good practice for the confetti on the wedding day!” Of course the kids loved this idea and all scattered to gather the biggest arm-fulls of leaves they could carry. Once I’d positioned them all I said “On the count of three, Mum and Dad are going to kiss and you’re going to throw the leaves as high as you can over their heads!” The kids did a tremendous job and played a vital role in capturing such a stunning photo for their parents.
The couple are due to be married in 2024 and I’m grateful to say they’ve booked me as their wedding photographer. As they chose the Gold photography package, they also got a free engagement photoshoot (and it’s not the first time an engagement session has become a family session!).
The kids were just fantastic, and luckily enough for me they took a shine to me very quickly! I got cuddles from the youngest and helped him grab the leaves on the high branches and the girls held my hands as we enjoyed the fresh air scouting for good photo spots!
We hid and played ‘peekaboo’, chased each other around, searched for pine cones and scouted for the prettiest leaves we could find.
And this is what I love about outdoor family sessions; the collection tells a story, of the adventure in the woods that they will all be able to remember and treasure forever through the photos. We do a few staged shots of course, but generally speaking most of their 189 images are the family just being themselves and enjoying their time together. It’s amazing what can be achieved in an hour!
“We had a great time with Aimee at Weelsby Woods at the weekend with the kids. Aimee was so warm and welcoming and the kids warmed up to her quickly. We’ve now got some great family photos and can’t wait for our wedding for even more great photos.”
