Wahey! Massive congratulations to Abbey & James on their vow exchange ceremony at Tattershall Castle! I can’t tell you what an honour it was to see Abbey’s face smiling at me at The Lincs Wedding Show. Abbey and I grew up together, so it was such a pleasure to be asked to capture their wedding ceremony for them!
The Beginning
Abbey says “I went to a car show at the Oaklands with my parents and there was some people there that I knew through a family friend. James was there and was friends with those people. I kept looking at him and knew he was a bit of me. My mum even said to me “Ok, come on then, tell me who you’ve spotted, I know you will of been looking at the boys”. …
So I told her and before we knew it, he came over with a crate of drinks and asked if we would like one. My mum said “ANT YOU GOT ANY DIET?” he said “oh, no sorry they didn’t have any diet”. We all laughed and she took one. Following that day I sent his friend a message to find out his surname. I then found him on Facebook and sent him a message. I still remember his reply “Oh, I didn’t expect you to message me”. We started talking and our friendship started from there!”
The Engagement
“We didn’t technically get engaged. We always knew we would get married one day. We decided in February we were going to do it and booked it for 6 months later.”
Tying the Knot
Abbey & James exchanged their vows in the main downstairs room of Tattershall Castle; adorned with beautiful brickwork, an impressive fireplace, flowers and candles. They had actually taken care of the legal part several days before, so this was purely an intimate gathering for their closest friends and family; very thoughtful of them!
Their bespoke and beautifully tailored exchange of vows was written and delivered by Penelope Jayne; who if I may say, had such a wonderful presence!
Abbey says: “I just want to get to the end of the aisle and be with him as soon as I can because that’s where I feel the safest.”
Abbey’s fabulous wedding dress was by Osh Gosh Gowns.
Family Photo Time
We were lucky enough to have a nice big tree casting a big patch of shade large enough to get some beautiful family photos. We were blessed with gorgeous weather, but there’s only so much standing and smiling you can do in the heat with the sun in your eyes!
Newlywed photoshoot
We made full use of every stunning background Tattershall Castle had to offer, including some beautiful silhouette shots courtesy of the stained glass windows. I wish I had a trigger warning for the staircase though!
