Oh my! Wedding photographer of the year! I did a little squeal as the reality set in that I have made it through to the regional finals of The Wedding Industry Awards. I am up for the Wedding Photographer of the Year 2024 award (Yorkshire and the North East division)!
It was an extremely pleasant surprise to open up my email inbox and see the word ‘Congratulations!’ sitting there! It feels completely amazing and surreal to be a regional finalist!
Being an Award Winning Wedding Photographer
Winning a wedding photography award is truly a momentous achievement for me, and it holds a special place in my heart. It’s not just about the recognition; it’s about the trust that couples place in me to capture the most meaningful moments of their lives.
Every wedding is unique, filled with emotions, stories, and memories that deserve to be immortalized in a way that reflects their true essence. Being acknowledged for my work reaffirms my passion for storytelling through photography and motivates me to keep pushing the boundaries of creativity.
This award isn’t just mine – it belongs to every couple who has allowed me the privilege of being part of their special day. Their love, trust, and shared moments are what make this journey so rewarding, and winning this award serves as a reminder of why I do what I do.
Any artist of any form loves to know their work has been appreciated and is valued by their clients; being able to say I am an award winning wedding photographer is a feeling of complete elation! Being a regional finalist for Yorkshire and the North East even more so!
It’s a powerful affirmation that I’m not only meeting the expectations of my clients but also making a lasting impact through my work. Thank you so much to those of you who booked me for your special day; and extra special thanks to those of you who nominated, reviewed and voted for me. You made it happen, not me! So thank you!
The Wedding Industry Awards
Wedding Photographer of the Year, Lincolnshire & Yorkshire 2024
These awards are like the Golden Globes for those of us who work in the wedding industry, it’s a huge deal and I am so grateful to be a part of it!
Being nominated
The amazing Natasha kindly nominated me for the wedding photographer of the year award! Natasha is one of my 2023 brides, I did her wedding last June, but I almost didn’t enter because I was so sure I wasn’t well known enough; but after a chat with her and then Damian from The Wedding Industry Awards, I decided to go for it! Natasha said she would have been offended if I never!
Being nominated was just the best feeling ever, I’m so pleased I decided to go for it!
Should I enter?
The reason I chose to go for it, was because it’s based on the quality of the votes you get, not the quantity! I realised if I don’t enter, I definitely won’t win. What’s life without taking a few chances eh?
The voting process
Voters are asked to rate you from 1 to 10 in various aspects of your services:
- Ability of your photographer to understand, interpret and realise your vision and ideas.
- Quality of expertise, advice and guidance received from your photographer.
- Quality of customer service and communication received from your photographer.
- Your photographer’s personal presentation and their ability to understand and fit into your wedding, your friends and your family.
- Quality of your photographer’s web presence (website, Facebook etc).
- Breadth of photographic coverage, delivery and quality of the finished photographs etc (including online and ‘real’ albums etc).
- How easy/enjoyable you found working with this supplier.
Voters are also asked to provide any positive comments or constructive criticism, but I won’t be able to read what anyone wrote until after the Nationals in January!
Regional Finalist – Yorkshire & the North East
The Regional Award Ceremony will be held on 6th November 2023 at The Vermont Hotel in Newcastle! I’ve bought my tickets and I am so excited! It looks like it’s going to be a great night and it will be amazing to mix with other people from the local wedding industry in a social capacity.
Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to vote for me! I really appreciate it, more than words can say!
