How are we at cake smash age already, Nevaeh?! It doesn’t feel like a moment since I last saw you at your newborn photography session and you’re still just as darling as ever! I absolutely love that she said “nope!” to both the spoon and her hands, and decided to eat the cake face first! She’s a girl after my own heart!
Set the stage
Choose an area in your home that has lots of natural light facing it and decorate it with the theme of your choice! There are lots of affordable backdrops and cake smash decoration kits available to buy online such as on Amazon or eBay. If you’re on a budget, a plain wall and some house plants can look just as beautiful!
Wardrobe
Choose an adorable outfit that matches your backdrop/theme, or choose neutral colours such as white or grey to make the background pop. There’s lots of inspiration available online if you are unsure.
Save some room for cake!
Babies will be far more enthusiastic if they haven’t just had a huge meal; that doesn’t mean let them go hungry! It just means to plan your cake smash session around 2 – 2.5 hours after their usual mealtime to make sure they’re getting peckish by the time we begin.
