I still can’t quite believe it, but I’ve just been awarded three Lux Distinctions in the Legacy Photography Awards – Wedding Category… and I’m honestly blown away. 💛 It’s one thing to have your work seen, but to have it recognised by a panel of international judges—and for all three submitted images—is something I’ll never take for granted.
The couple Katie & Adair are also thrilled as much as I am!
What these awards mean
The Legacy Photography Awards are renowned for their thoughtful curation and high standards, focusing not just on beautiful imagery, but on narrative, depth, and emotional intention. Judges rarely comment on more than one photo per entrant—but this time, they felt compelled to review and celebrate all three of my submissions.
What meant the most to me wasn’t just the gold seal (although, let’s be honest, that’s pretty damn shiny). It was the way they described my work: coherent, calm, elegant, technically flawless, and above all, emotionally truthful. They saw the thread I always try to weave—human connection, gentle storytelling, and artistry without ego. That means more than words can say.
The Award-Winning Images
Image #01 – The Ceremony

This frame was praised for its extraordinary depth and layered composition, using blurred foreground foliage to draw the eye toward the couple while gently placing the context of the ceremony in the background. The judges were especially moved by the small, emotionally charged details: the way the couple hold hands, and how the bride’s second hand rests over his arm; a quiet gesture of strength and intimacy.
“It’s a detail that might easily go unnoticed, but you’ve caught it with precision… These quiet, subtle moments reveal the depth of your sensitivity as an artist.”
Image #02 – The Outdoor Portrait

Here, they admired how the veil wasn’t just a stylistic prop but an expressive tool. The motion added a sense of rhythm, softened the symmetry, and made it feel as though the couple was cocooned in peace. They described this as a true moment, not a pose—a scene filled with genuine connection and calm.
“It feels as though you offered them a moment of pause amid the day’s whirlwind, and they responded with genuine tenderness. What you’ve captured here is not a pose, but a moment of truth.”
Image #03 – The Black and White Window Shot

The final image was noted for its clean, classical elegance. The judges highlighted my use of natural light, texture, and shape—how every element feels intentional. They even pointed out the wall sconce as a perfect visual counterpoint. Choosing black and white didn’t just remove distractions, it elevated the form and light play, enhancing the symbolism.
“The result is a serene, restrained, and symbolic image… Black and white enhances the forms, the lines, and the interplay of light and shadow.”

Full Comments
Although we usually only have time to comment on one photograph per entrant, it is genuinely difficult to choose just one when all three of your images have been awarded our highest distinction.
It’s not simply the individual quality of each frame that stands out, but the coherence you achieve between them: together they form a strong, elegant, technically flawless and narratively harmonious body of work. You’ve captured different moments from the day — each with its own tone, visual language and emotional intention — yet you never lose sight of the consistent thread that defines your photographic voice.
In these images, you don’t merely document the emotion of the day — you translate it through a refined, timeless aesthetic in which both colour and black and white coexist with admirable ease. Nothing feels out of place, nothing disturbs the atmosphere you so carefully construct. On the contrary: everything speaks of a photographer with experience, craft and a calm, discerning eye — someone who knows exactly when to step in and when to let the moment unfold on its own.
In the ceremony image, you’ve created an extraordinary sense of depth: the blurred foreground foliage provides a soft natural frame, the couple stand perfectly sharp in the middle ground, and the gently out-of-focus background gives context without competing for attention.
This layered construction not only leads the viewer’s gaze, but creates balance and highlights what truly matters — the connection between the couple. We were particularly moved by the gesture of their joined hands, and how the bride strengthens the embrace with her other hand gently holding his arm. It’s a detail that might easily go unnoticed, but you’ve caught it with precision.
Moments like these, quiet and subtle, are what reveal the depth of your sensitivity as an artist and the sharpness of your observation.
Something similar happens in the outdoor portrait. You’ve used the veil not just as a decorative element, but as an expressive tool: its movement breaks the symmetry, adds rhythm to the composition and seems to envelop the couple in a protective gesture. The result conveys intimacy, quiet joy, complicity — and a welcome sense of calm. It feels as though you offered them a moment of pause amid the day’s whirlwind, and they responded with genuine tenderness. What you’ve captured here is not a pose, but a moment of truth.
Finally, the black and white image brings a perfect close. The composition is clean, with a classical elegance: the couple seen from behind, framed by the large window, natural light tracing the texture of the dress, their arms positioned with precision, the fabric falling flawlessly — and as a subtle counterpoint, the ornate, lit wall sconce in the upper right corner, which balances the entire frame.
In this case, black and white not only removes any colour cast caused by the artificial light, but also enhances the forms, the lines, and the interplay of light and shadow. The result is a serene, restrained and symbolic image.
Three different images, yet all connected by the same thread of elegance, attention to detail, and photographic mastery. Please accept our warmest congratulations and our heartfelt thanks for sharing them with us.
