Choosing the right wedding venue is one of the most important decisions you’ll make while planning your big day. The venue sets the tone, style, and overall atmosphere for the celebration. With so many options out there, it can feel overwhelming, but by narrowing down your priorities and considering key factors like budget, location, and guest count, you can find the perfect place that matches your vision. Here’s my wedding venue advice:
Booking an engagement photo shoot is a great way to get to know your wedding photographer, shake off any camera nerves before your wedding day and show you what you can expect on the day.
You can also use the photos for your save the date’s, invitations or wedding décor! There is so much value to booking a session.
Your Wedding Venue: Things to Consider
1) Determine Your Budget
Before you start visiting potential venues, it’s essential to establish your budget. Weddings can be expensive, and you don’t want to fall in love with a venue that’s way out of your price range. Decide how much you’re willing to spend on the venue, including any additional costs like catering or decorations.
2) Consider Your Guest List
Take a moment to envision your wedding day. Do you want an intimate gathering with just close family and friends, or are you planning a grand celebration with hundreds of guests? The size of your guest list will play a significant role in determining the size and capacity of the venue you choose.
3) Location, Location, Location
Think about the location of your wedding venue. Do you want to stay close to home or have a destination wedding? Consider the convenience for your guests, especially if you have friends and family traveling from out of town. A venue that’s easily accessible and has nearby accommodations can make everyone’s experience more enjoyable.
4) 4. Think about the Style
Every couple has a unique vision for their wedding day. What’s your style? Are you dreaming of a rustic barn wedding, a glamorous ballroom affair, or a beachside celebration? Choose a venue that aligns with your desired aesthetic, as it will set the tone for the entire event.
5) Amenities and Services
Consider the amenities and services offered by each venue. Do they provide in-house catering, or can you bring in your own? Is there a designated area for the ceremony and reception? What about parking and restroom facilities? Is there a honeymoon suite, on-site salon or big space for the bridal party to get ready? What about a back-up photo location in case it’s raining?
These details may seem small, but they can make a big difference in the overall experience for you and your guests.

6) Flexibility and Customization
Flexibility is key when it comes to choosing a wedding venue. You may have a specific date in mind or a unique theme that requires customisation. Make sure the venue is open to your ideas and willing to work with you to create the wedding of your dreams.
7) Visit and Visualise
Once you’ve narrowed down your options, it’s time to visit the venues in person. Schedule appointments to see each space and take note of how it makes you feel. Can you envision yourself walking down the aisle or dancing the night away in that venue? Trust your instincts and choose the one that resonates with you the most.
One idea I always give my couples is to go around together while holding hands; give your partner a gentle squeeze if you like what you’re seeing, and if they squeeze back, they like it too! If they don’t squeeze back, maybe take a brochure and discuss things at home!
8) Reviews & Recommendations
Before making a final decision, do your research. Read reviews from other couples who have held their weddings at the venues you’re considering. Ask friends and family for recommendations. Hearing about other people’s experiences can provide valuable insights and help you make an informed choice.
I really hope this helped!
The perfect wedding venue is out there—it’s all about finding a space that aligns with your style, budget, and guest experience. By considering all the essential factors, from location to ambiance, you’ll ensure that your venue enhances the beauty and joy of your celebration.
