5 Reasons to Choose Beautiful Hybrid Wedding Photography

Hi! I’m Aimee, and (at least at the time of writing!) I’m the only wedding photographer in the Lincolnshire area to offer photo-video or ‘hybrid’ wedding photography as one person. In this article, I’m going to explain the five benefits of choosing one of my hybrid packages for your big day.

What is hybrid wedding photography?

A ‘Hybrid’ is a term used when we combine two different elements to make something new, just as a puppy born from both a Labrador and a Poodle is *ahem* a ‘labradoodle.’ In my case, a hybrid package is a healthy combination of both wedding photography, and wedding videography!

My hybrid packages include both a full wedding photography gallery as well as a 3-6 minute highlight video; they are absolutely my most popular option amongst my couples, and here’s why…

Reason 1. You get more for your money.

Choosing a hybrid package is much cheaper than sourcing wedding photography and wedding videography independently. The average cost for a UK wedding photographer is £1,300 and the average cost for a UK wedding videographer is £1,150 (based on a 2022 newlywed survey).

I can’t speak for other photographers or videographers whom offer hybrid services, but I can tell you my personal hybrid pricing is roughly half of both of those combined!

Reason 2. It tells a much deeper story.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then I say a video is worth a thousand pictures! Having a highlight video brings your wedding day to life again and again whenever you want, and if I’m already there for your photos, we may as well grab a video too! It takes nothing away from how many photos you get, it just means I’m shooting even more, sometimes with two cameras at once!

Reason 3. Style consistency.

Did you notice how Claire & John’s entire collection matched perfectly? That’s because it was done by the same person, with the same creative eye, on the same camera and with the same editing techniques!

Reason 4. Your day is more about you!

One discreet photographer as opposed to two different camera teams ensures your day will be captured beautifully with minimal distraction or obstruction.

When I’m shooting hybrid, it’s just me and my camera, trying to be unnoticed, documenting your day as naturally and creatively as possible. There’ll be no tripods or other camera-folk in any of your shots and your day will be all about you, you’ll barely notice me there!

“Everyone at the wedding loved the fact that Aimee just always seemed to be able to capture picture perfect moments without being seen.”

Reason 5. Your day is more about you!

Your newlywed portraits will be a welcome break for you both, but it won’t take you away from your loved ones for too long. There is no seemingly endless cycle of the photographer wanting a shot, then the videographer wanting a shot while you’re thinking “Oh my word just let me go for a cocktail already!” With hybrid shooting, there are no turn-taking teams, no repetition and no faffing! And because I’m a candid photographer, it will just feel like the two of you taking a quick breather together.

How does it sound?

Most of my couples choose hybrid wedding photography because of the reasons above, if you’re undecided whether it’s the right choice for you, I’m always happy to discuss it in more detail! You can also see my galleries here and my highlight videos here.
