Dealing with the post-wedding blues and ideas to keep the wedding vibes going!

What are ‘The Post-Wedding Blues’?

Getting married is an exciting and joyous occasion, but what happens when the big day is over? Many couples experience a sense of sadness and letdown after their wedding, commonly known as the “wedding blues.” They are a very real thing and can sneak up on you.

You have the best and most incredible day of your life, then suddenly you’re back down to Earth, you have so much free time and wondering what to do with yourself.

I had the post-wedding blues pretty bad myself, it was week after our honeymoon ended before I could put my dress away!

There are ways to help combat these post-wedding blues and keep the wedding vibes going. In this article, we will explore some strategies to help you navigate this transitional period and maintain the joy and excitement of your special day.

1. Reflect and Celebrate

Take some time to reflect on your wedding day and all the beautiful moments that made it special. Look through your wedding photos, watch your wedding video, and relive those cherished memories. Celebrate your love by having a mini anniversary celebration or recreating some of the highlights from your wedding day. This will help you keep the positive energy alive and remind you of the love and happiness you experienced.

2. Plan a Honeymoon or Mini Getaway

Extend the excitement of your wedding by planning a honeymoon or a mini getaway. It doesn’t have to be an extravagant trip; even a weekend getaway to a nearby destination can be a refreshing break. Use this time to relax, reconnect with your partner, and create new memories together. The anticipation and planning will give you something to look forward to and help ease the post-wedding blues.

3. Keep the Wedding Décor

Instead of packing away all the wedding décor and mementos, find creative ways to incorporate them into your everyday life. Frame your favorite wedding photo and display it in your home. Use the flowers from your bouquet to create a dried flower arrangement or press them in a book. These small touches will serve as reminders of your special day and keep the wedding vibes alive.

4. Start a New Tradition

One way to combat the wedding blues is to create new traditions as a married couple. It could be as simple as having a weekly date night or cooking a special meal together every month. These traditions will give you something to look forward to and create a sense of continuity and excitement in your relationship.

5. Stay Connected with Loved Ones

Your wedding day brought together your closest friends and family, and it’s important to maintain those connections even after the big day. Plan regular gatherings or outings with your loved ones to continue the celebration. It could be a casual game night, a picnic in the park, or a dinner party. Surrounding yourself with loved ones will help keep the wedding vibes going and remind you of the support and love you have in your life.

6. Create a Wedding Album or Scrapbook

Compile all your wedding photos, cards, and mementos into a beautiful wedding album or scrapbook. This project will not only keep you engaged and occupied but also serve as a tangible reminder of your special day. You can revisit it whenever you’re feeling nostalgic or want to relive the magic of your wedding.

7. Give Back

Channel your post-wedding blues into something positive by giving back to your community or a cause you care about. Volunteer together as a couple, make a donation to a charity, or organize a fundraiser. This act of kindness will not only help others but also give you a sense of purpose and fulfillment, which can combat the wedding blues.

Conclusion

The wedding blues are a common experience for many couples, but they don’t have to overshadow the joy of your special day. By reflecting on your wedding, planning getaways, keeping mementos, starting new traditions, staying connected with loved ones, creating albums, and giving back, you can keep the wedding vibes going and maintain the excitement and happiness that comes with being newlyweds. Remember, your wedding day was just the beginning of a beautiful journey, and there are many more wonderful moments to come.

And above all, don’t be afraid to seek help if you need it.
