Stunning Brackenborough Hotel Wedding – Mollie & Ryan

Congratulations to the show-stopping Mollie & Ryan on their marriage! Working on their full-day wedding at Brackenborough Hotel was an absolute treat for me, they’re such a wonderful couple with equally amazing friends and families.

Not only did I get to photograph the entire day, but they also chose my highlight video add-on which you can see at the bottom of the post!

The Beginning

“We met in North whilst on a night out in Cleethorpes. I swear Ryan followed me everywhere after that, but then we ended up chatting all night! We were always talking. After a night out in Leeds with the girls I didn’t want to spend the day in Leeds as I was very hungover, so Ryan decided that it would be a nice idea to come and get me to take me home, so he drove all the way from Grimsby to Leeds just to get me home safe and from then things just got more serious.

After that we went on our first date to the Curious Cat for some food and a few drinks, then making our way to Cleethorpes to carry on having some more to drink!

From then we never stopped talking, I told my mum that I am seeing someone called Ryan Pearson and she already knew his mum as she used to work with her. My sister also knew his younger brother and went to school with him so I was the only one who didn’t know the family! It was quite nice that everyone knew each other and wasn’t awkward at all as we had a lot to talk about.”

The Engagement

“It was my 21st birthday in lockdown and I was at my mum and dads while Ryan was sorting what I thought was a birthday surprise out at home. I went back home with my family and he had all balloons set up and a letter for me to read that lead me round the house to different clues and presents one that was from our daughter that got me crying already.

He blindfolded me and led me to the last surprise! When I took my blind fold off I was stood in front of the tv with music (Justin Bieber – Anyone) and he read out the cutest things to me and at the end got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!”

Top tip from the newlyweds

“I advise people to try DIY everything yourself and get creative it’s all trial and error but it makes you feel so proud of yourself at the end and it makes you appreciate everything a lot more, also it’s a lot cheaper!

I wish someone told me how much you just think about and talk about your wedding and I wish I just relaxed a little more and didn’t stress over the little things, at the end of the day you are marrying your life partner and nothing is better than that!”

The Wedding

Meet Mollie

Mollie is an absolute firecracker and I knew instantly we were going to have a lot of fun together! Mollie even suggested bouncing on the bed with a bottle of bubbly, so we absolutely had to get that shot!

The bride tribe photos are always a lot of fun! Emotion and energy is usually high but I had such a laugh with Mollie and her bridesmaids in their Brackenborough Hotel Lakes lodge!

Their theme was black with white and green accents which I found to be absolutely beautiful to work with. I always spend a lot of time on the detail shots but these ones were just so much fun to create. Just look at little Nellie’s dress hanging like Mummy’s!

Mollie got ready with the help of her amazing mum, and after a quick bridal portrait on the lake, we surprised Mollie’s bridesmaids and dad with the big reveal!

Meet Ryan

I spent a brief bit of the time with Ryan and his groom squad before popping back to the girls. The time with the guys is usually much shorter, as they tend to arrive later, and get ready quicker!

The banter was on point and I could not wait to see how the day unfolded!

The Ceremony

They had an indoor ceremony and Ryan was beside himself with emotion which for a wedding photographer, is like striking gold (sorry Ryan!) I absolutely love photographing genuine emotion in all it’s form, and Mollie was just as emotional walking down the aisle. The moment they saw each other was just electric.

Cocktail hour

The newlyweds made their exit like absolute rockstars and were greeted by the Brackenborough Hotel staff with a glass of well deserved, ice cold champagne. The newlyweds were absolutely glowing!

The sun may have calmed down, but unfortunately the wind did not! But we went for it anyway!

“We went with a minimal black & white theme as it is very timeless and we won’t regret it in the future.”

After a delicious three course meal, we went out for their newlywed portraits. It’s always best to have all of the formalities out of the way first so the couple can really relax into it.

We took full advantage of the gorgeous sunset lighting on the beautiful grounds at Brackenborough Hotel.

Ah yes, these are the photos that dreams are made of…

“Our first dance is going to be to Justin Bieber – Anyone”

Their dance was lovely, but when their kids joined them on the floor I just melted!

As you can see we played my funny wedding photo game (that I affectionately call ‘Photo Roulette’ and got some… interesting results!

We also had a 360 photo booth and had a lot of fun with it! Even I had a go!
