Sunflower Dower House Hotel Wedding – Charlotte & Kris

Let’s hear it for our newlyweds Charlotte & Kristoffer and congratulate them on the most epic wedding at Dower House Hotel!

What can I say about these two? They are so much fun to be around! I had an amazing time spending the day with them. Charlotte booked me way back in 2022 and I can’t believe how much the time has flown! I’ve even done Charlotte’s sister Pippa’s wedding since then!

The Beginning

“We met randomly at Kris’s Mums house, while I was having drinks with his sister! We hit it off chatting about anime haha and the rest is history.”

“Definitely a shock after being together for 10 years! Kris took me to Ragdale Hall Spa for my birthday and proposed under the weeping willow tree in the garden.”

Aww! So sweet that they said their vows under a weeping willow tree too!

Top tip from the newlyweds

“Organise and lists! What a must!”

The Wedding

Meet Kris

I went to Kris and the groom squad at their home, they were mostly ready when I got there but we managed to grab a few shots before the car arrived! The guys all looked fab in their suits!

If you’ve seen any of my previous Real Wedding Stories; you’ll know I always start with the guys first because they get ready a lot quicker (sorry girls, it’s true!) and it’s much easier for them to take their jacket off again and relax if they want to!

I spent the rest of the morning with Charlotte and her bridal party in the private building off to the side of the main venue, so we were able to easily keep an eye on things without risking Charlotte being seen!

Charlotte looked an absolute vision in her wedding dress and was ready with enough time to spare to offer and enjoy a glass of bubbly with me! (It would have been rude not to!)

Charlotte & Kris made use of the stunning outdoor wedding ceremony area at The Dower House Hotel! They married beneath a beautiful big willow tree (just like the one they got engaged under! Aww!) We had fantastic weather and as a bonus, it wasn’t too hot!

Cocktail hour

Sunshine, garden games, champagne and great company! What more could an excited pair of newlyweds wish for?

The family photos were as fun and laid back as a photographer could dream of! We got some lovely mantlepiece worthy portraits as well as some funny ones!

Wedding breakfast

Everything was sunflower-themed and looked beautiful! Charlotte & Kris made their rockstar entrance into the reception hall and the MoC didn’t even get to finish her sentence before the cheering began!

“We chose green as its my favourite colour and sunflowers because they just remind me of happy times.”

Speeches

Charlotte’s sister and maid of honour Pippa spoke first. I actually photographed Pippa’s wedding a few months ago so it was amazing to see them all again! Pippa gave an amazing speech that was funny and extremely sentimental, and one thing she said struck me and will stay with me forever.

“I hope you enjoy growing old with her as much as I enjoyed growing up with her”.

The best man spoke second followed by the man of the day, Kris. Cheers to the newlyweds!

Once we were all relaxed, fed and watered, we took a casual walk around the grounds away from the buzz to give the newlyweds some time to focus on themselves and get their portraits done!

Cake cut & first dance

“Our first dance is going to be to “Forever After All” by Luke Comb – Kris chose it, made him well up while watching the music video haha!”

Reception

We played tug of war, had a sack race, danced the night away and had some fun in the photobooth!

Why choose The Dower House Hotel for your big day?

As a wedding photographer I have the privilege of spending my days exploring some of the most gorgeous venues with the most amazing teams of wedding staff. The Dower House Hotel is as wonderful on the inside as it is on the outside; this elegant country house hotel in Lincolnshire even has it’s own separate bridal building across the grounds, so you can get ready for your big day in peace without worry of any of your guests seeing you before the big moment!

Dower House can cater for weddings of all sizes and is perfect for larger guest lists; The Orchard Suite has it’s own private bar and is elegantly decorated in light and neutral tones so any wedding theme looks stunning. The folly outside is licensed for outdoor ceremonies so you can say “I do” beneath the most beautiful willow trees (perfect for keeping the sun out of your eyes!). It radiates class, romance and charm throughout and the grounds offer plenty of space for outdoor activities. The Dower House Hotel is a fantastic choice for a Lincolnshire wedding.
