You’re in Peoples Park, it’s raining, you have bright sunshine and a pair of newlyweds who cannot stop laughing! Vickie & Samm’s shoot was quite possibly one of the most memorable sessions I’ll ever do in my life because it was so incredibly unique! Most people shy away from the rain, especially on their wedding day, but not these two, these legends grabbed it by the horns and owned it and I’m so glad they did!
The Beginning
Vickie:
“We met on Tinder of all places! We spoke for a while online, and for the first week or two communicated pretty much exclusively in Gifs! Our first meet up was on a night out with friends and ended with us instigating a dance off in a gay-bar.”
Samm:
“We met thanks to the matching power of a right-swipe on Tinder. We were speaking for a while before Tinderella decided that she would ghost me for a little while. Something must’ve clicked, and she came grovelling back in my DMs. After that little blip, we had a dance off in a club, and the rest is history.”
(See? Legends!)
The Engagement
Vickie:
“We got engaged in Scarborough. I wasn’t expecting it at all! I was pregnant with Eli and we’d been for an early gender scan in Beverly before travelling up for a weekend away in Scarborough/Whitby. We’d planned to film a gender reveal overlooking the North Bay, and whilst we were filming the gender reveal Samm asked me to marry him, it was so perfect.”
Samm:
“Vick thought it was just a gender reveal for our friends and family, but I had other ideas. There was no getting down on one knee though, the ground was wet, and I’m not about spending the day in wet jeans. Soz hun xox”
Meet Vickie
Vickie has been in my life for as long as I can remember! Way back into our early teenage years going to gigs in Grimsby and Cleethorpes! One of my earliest memories with her was being on the North East Lincolnshire Council’s ‘Council for Young People’. We would go to Grimsby Town Hall and meet with other young volunteers from other schools and bring a youthful perspective on local issues to the Grimsby council members. If only we knew back then that I’d one day be shooting her wedding in the very same building?! Vickie has always been an advocate for positive changes, never shying away from the work and effort it entails, I think it’s what I admire most about her!

“I’m most looking forward to sharing the day with our nearest and dearest. (And seeing Samm’s face when I turn up in white, when he’s expecting me to wear something colourful! )”
Meet Samm
The first time I met Samm was when I shot Kris (Vickie’s brother) & Leanne’s wedding several weeks ago, but being friends with Vickie for so long I felt like I already knew him through the power of social media!
Suit boutique: Joe Browns
“I’m most looking forward to letting Vick level up to Wife, and spending the day with our closest family and friends, and of course Fish and Chips!”
Tying the Knot
If the expression on Vickie’s face doesn’t say it all, these guys were made for each other! They laughed, they cried, and they read the most beautiful and personalised vows to each other. I think Vickie went through at least two tissues (not that I was counting)
Vickie:
“The town hall is such a beautiful building, inside and out. I spent a lot of time there as a teenager going to various youth organisation meetings and it just felt like the right place. The only theme really for our wedding day was stress free and relaxed. We were both pretty keen on having no major fuss and just wanted everyone to come and share the special day.”
Samm:
“We chose the Town Hall, because Vickie suggested it, and I liked it. But also, it is a stunning building, often overlooked as we see it so much! There wasn’t a specific theme for the big day, we just wanted stress free with a nice laid back atmosphere.”
After a coincidental vintage foot-popping first kiss; the newlyweds made their rockstar exit to the cheers and applause of their family and friends! I absolutely love this photo!
A pause in time
If the couple are happy, I like to sneak them off for five minutes right after the ceremony so I know they’ve had that little pause in time before they’re lovingly rushed by their adoring fans! So many couples tell me they felt like they hardly saw each other so these five minutes just for them are super important to let the emotion and reality sink in, they did it! We also had an extra five minutes with their two gorgeous boys so they could have a moment as a family. Aww!
Family Photos
We held our family portraits outside under the cover of Grimsby Town Hall, I don’t mind getting soaked if it means the couple gets their photos!
Newlywed photoshoot
Rain and bright sunshine! What a beautiful combination! Their photos were just effortlessly romantic and just, well, them! I’ve never had a couple who just relaxed into the session so much and were themselves the entire time! We had little under an hour to explore People’s Park and get some extra special and gorgeous shots in the location that meant so much to them.
I am so digging the Autumnal vibes!
Vickie:
“Top tip would be not to stress! The day goes by in such a blur, just laugh off an dramas and enjoy the moment!”
Samm:
“Top tip would be to just go with the flow, and don’t stress the details. Spend less time worrying about things and if people are enjoying it, and more time on enjoying the day; it will go by so fast!”
Wedding breakfast
Vickie insisted I take my cameras home and join them for Fish & Chips at The Ocean Fish Bar in Cleethorpes – it would have been rude not to! Huge congratulations guys, thank you so much for having me be a small part of your happy ever after!
