Happy times for Simon & Clare this week as they tied the knot at The Church of St Benedict in Horncastle! Their epic day followed on with smoke bombs and a fabulous tepee reception at Scrivelsby Walled Garden!
The Beginning
“We met online. First date was at The Foreshore Pub in Hessle. We laughed and talked all night and ended up getting kicked out as they were closing!”
“We got engaged on Nai Han beach in Phuket, Thailand. It was secretly planned and she didn’t see it coming.”
Top tip from the newlyweds
“Get the registrar booked early if required. You can book 2 years in advance! Get a whiteboard for all the planning! We’ve filled in 2!”
The Wedding
Meet Simon
The day started with Simon at The Golf Hotel in Woodhall Spa and the guys looked fantastic in their cream and blue suits.
If you’ve seen any of my previous Real Wedding Stories; you’ll know I always start with the guys first because they get ready a lot quicker (sorry girls, it’s true!) and it’s much easier for them to take their jacket off again and relax if they want to!
Suit boutique: Hancock’s Menswear
Meet Claire
Clare got ready for the big day at Lion Gate Lodge where the mood was high and the bubbly flowed in abundance! Clare wore a gorgeous cape to accompany her dress (I do love a cape!)
Dress boutique: Elite bridal
Family Photos
We had our family photos outside the church entrance whish was decorated beautifully with an arrangement of flowers to match Claire & Simon’s theme.
Cocktail hour
A smokebomb walk (very colourful!) followed by lots of different drinks, canapés and garden games. The newlyweds lucked out with the perfect weather for their outdoor tepee reception at Scrivelsby Walled Garden! There was such a natural and botanical vibe, I absolutely love their theme!

Wedding breakfast
The tepee looked absolutely incredible and was a welcome break from the sun!
“Our theme is going to be Bohemian style.”
Speeches
A combination of light hearted and emotional speeches were given by the bride, groom and their son.
Bless him! Cheers to the newlyweds!
Newlywed Photoshoot
As the sun set, it was time for their newlywed portraits (once they’d finished their drinks!) Scrivelsby Walled Garden is an amazing location for photo opportunities, everywhere you look there is something different!
Cake cut & first dance
Cake maker: Jan
Their deliciously fabulous looking cake was made by their friend Jan! (If Jan doesn’t run a cake business already, she should!)
Reception
Everyone hit the dancefloor with energy to match a wedding to remember!
