Becky & Grant’s spring wedding at Hodsock Priory was the kind of day that makes you quietly wish you could photograph the same venue every weekend. Blossom trees framed the gardens in soft pink, pastel blue details ran throughout the styling, and the whole manor house had this timeless, romantic atmosphere from start to finish.

I remember arriving that morning and feeling like I’d accidentally wandered onto the set of Downton Abbey. Everywhere you looked there were hidden gardens, huge windows pouring in natural light, and gorgeous little corners just waiting to be explored.

Despite the unpredictable spring weather changing the couple’s original outdoor ceremony plans, the day couldn’t have suited Hodsock Priory more perfectly. Soft overcast skies, relaxed energy, and one very beautiful golden-hour stroll around the grounds later in the evening.

Getting Ready Moments
Meanwhile, Becky spent the morning getting ready in the stunning bridal suite at Hodsock Priory and honestly… I’m still jealous of that room. Huge windows flooded the space with natural light, the décor felt beautifully classic, and it genuinely gave full Downton Abbey energy from the second I walked in.

The bridesmaids wore matching satin robes in soft pastel blue while flower girls and family members drifted in and out of the suite throughout the morning with champagne glasses, bouquets, and last-minute excitement.

The blush pink and dusty blue styling worked perfectly with the spring blossom trees around the estate, making the entire day feel beautifully cohesive from beginning to end.
Becky and her mum made their way to the gorgeous Hodsock Priory bridal suite, where they got ready for the ceremony in the peace and quiet.
The Ceremony
Although Becky & Grant had originally planned to marry outdoors, the unpredictable spring weather led to the ceremony being held inside Hodsock Priory instead.
Honestly though? The indoor ceremony space suited the atmosphere of the day perfectly.

The soft natural light pouring through the windows kept everything feeling bright and romantic, while the historic interiors gave the ceremony this wonderfully intimate atmosphere. Friends and family packed into the room, emotional smiles appeared almost immediately, and the whole ceremony felt relaxed, genuine, and full of warmth.

Once the confetti and congratulations began outside afterwards, the weather finally started behaving itself again just in time for guests to enjoy the grounds.
Cocktail Hour
One of the best things about Hodsock Priory is how naturally the venue flows throughout the day. Guests can wander between the manor house, gardens, courtyard spaces, and reception rooms without ever feeling confined to one area.

During the drinks reception, guests spilled out across the grounds while Becky & Grant caught up with family and friends beneath the blossom trees. Everywhere you looked there were pastel dresses, champagne glasses, laughter, and guests quietly exploring the estate like they’d stumbled into a period drama set.

The blossom trees were absolutely incredible during this wedding. The soft pink petals matched the wedding palette so perfectly it genuinely looked like the entire venue had been styled around them.
Family Photos
Family photos outside Hodsock Priory looked incredible against the historic brick manor house backdrop.
One thing I really loved about this wedding was how relaxed everyone stayed throughout group photos. Nobody disappeared to the bar, nobody sighed dramatically about “how many photos are left”, and everyone just fully embraced the moment together.

The overcast skies actually worked beautifully here too. Soft light makes such a difference for large group photos because it keeps everything evenly lit without harsh shadows or squinting guests battling direct sunlight.
And yes… the vantage-point group shots the couple requested beforehand absolutely paid off.
Wedding Breakfast
The reception room looked gorgeous once guests were seated for the wedding breakfast. Becky & Grant continued their blush pink and dusty blue colour palette throughout the décor with soft florals, elegant table styling, and beautiful details across the room.

Their cake design tied everything together perfectly too, with soft blue ribbon detailing and delicate floral arrangements that matched the bouquets and centrepieces throughout the venue.
As the speeches began, the atmosphere shifted from emotional to hilarious within minutes, which honestly tends to be the sign of a very good wedding speech lineup.

Newlywed Photoshoot
Once the evening light softened, we headed back outside for Becky & Grant’s newlywed portraits around the grounds and lakeside areas of Hodsock Priory.

This is usually the point in the wedding day where couples finally get ten quiet minutes together away from everyone else. No timelines. No guests asking questions. No pressure. Just a chance to breathe and actually soak in the fact they’ve just got married.

The blossom trees were still completely in bloom around the estate, scattering petals across the pathways and lawns while the evening sun finally started breaking through the clouds.

And despite Grant originally being slightly unsure about spending much time on portraits at all, he ended up completely relaxing once we started wandering around together. By the end of the session he was singing Sally Cinnamon to Becky beneath the blossom trees while they laughed their way through the gardens.

That’s exactly why I always encourage couples to take a little time for newlywed photos, even if they feel nervous beforehand. It never ends up being about awkward posing. It’s about giving yourselves space to actually enjoy being married together for a few minutes.
Reception
As the sun set, and the evening guests arrived, the atmosphere naturally shifted from relaxed spring wedding to full celebration mode.
The cake cut brought everyone together before Becky & Grant headed straight into their first dance surrounded by family and friends. The manor house lighting, warm evening atmosphere, and packed dancefloor made everything feel cosy and lively all at once.

The whole evening felt effortless in the best possible way. No forced formalities. Just people genuinely enjoying themselves together.
Wedding Photography at Hodsock Priory
As a wedding photographer, I get to explore some absolutely incredible venues across the UK, and Hodsock Priory genuinely feels like one of those places that leaves a lasting impression straight away.

The historic manor house has this timeless elegance that feels luxurious without becoming intimidating or overly formal. Everywhere you turn there’s another gorgeous backdrop, from the brick archways and courtyard spaces to the lakeside gardens and blossom-lined pathways.
One of my favourite things about Hodsock Priory is the sheer variety it offers throughout a wedding day. The venue flows beautifully between indoor and outdoor spaces, which keeps the atmosphere relaxed and gives guests plenty of room to explore and enjoy themselves naturally.
And if you happen to marry there in spring while the blossom trees are in full bloom? Honestly, it’s ridiculous how pretty it is.
